Alan Govan's Horse and Cart Ride

The Bunya Mountains are located just under four hour's drive north west of Brisbane. A favourite destination for families and couples looking for a quiet country escape, there is not too much to do in the Bunyas but that's exactly how the visitors like it!

Walking is a popular pastime and there are plenty of National Park tracks to enjoy. Bird feeding is another favourite activity on the mountain. The Bunya General Store sells bags of bird food for $4 to visitors wishing to get up close with the local flock of king parrots.

Alan Govan's Horse and Cart Ride is another must do when in the Bunyas. The two hour trip combines history and scenic vistas with a unique experience aboard a replica horse drawn cart. The Bunya Horse and Cart Ride costs $25 per adult and $11 per child. This price includes morning or afternoon smoko in the rainforest.

There are options-a-plenty when staying in the Bunyas. During summer the campground spots are in high demand with visitors keen to breathe in the mountain air. However, in winter, when temperatures frequently drop below freezing, a holiday home can be a more comfortable option. The Colonial Cottage is just one of the many homes available at the Bunya Mountain Getaway booking agency. The self contained home sleeps up to ten people and at full capacity it starts at $200 per night. To book the Colonial Cottage, or one of the many other homes in the region, contact Bunya Mountain Getaway.
