Pioneer Valley Drive The RACQ Trip Planner is a great on-line resource to help you plan a driving adventure in Queensland. A popular tourist route weaves its way through the Pioneer Valley, inland from Mackay – passing through the towns of Marian, Pinnacle and Finch Hatton before reaching the elevated beauty of Eungella.
At Marian, there’s a museum to Australia’s first opera diva, Dame Nellie Melba, at the house where she lived before launching her international singing career.
Down the road at Pinnacle, the pub serves what’s considered locally to be the best and biggest pie in Central Queensland.
Finch Hatton is all soothing rainforest and waterfalls – and home to “Forest Flying”. The adventure involves gliding through the rainforest canopy, some 25 metres above the ground.
